The story of Joshua Frase's long battle with myotubular myopathy

It is with great sadness that we share that our son, Joshua Miles Frase, at 15 years of age, lost his life-long battle with Myotubular Myopathy (MTM). He continues his journey with great joy, now in the presence of our Lord and savior.
On a daily basis, Joshua defied the odds and obstacles that were set before him. His passion, tenacity and love for life, powerfully impacted all who knew him. His life influenced many; from his fellow peers to people and medical researchers around the world. Joshua’s life has impacted and will change the face of neuro-muscular science as we know it, and The Joshua Frase Foundation will continue on its crusade in his honor. Words cannot express our heartfelt gratitude for your love of Joshua, and the Joshua’s of the world, as well as the financial support that you have so generously given over the years. It is paramount that this research continues, as we are so close to changing the lives of so many.
We share with you Joshua’s favorite scripture, found in Isaiah 40:31.
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not be weary, and they shall walk and not faint".

On My Son's Graduation Day

As this week approaches I reflect on what could have been, my heart can't stop wishing that rather than being a mom attending graduation functions in memory of her son, I would be one of the moms parading my son around filled to the brim with pride at the young man he would've been today. This year marks what would have been Joshua's senior year in high school, and today, his graduation day. It's the year (and day) every high school student lives for. Joshua's dreams far surpassed his four years in the halls of Ponte Vedra High. He had every intention of becoming a scientist so he could help find a cure for his peers. His desire to find a cure for fellow peers fuels our strength to persevere till one day we receive a reward in his honor.
His fellow classmates, teenagers themselves, have done so much to honor Joshua since his passing. They've created a Malendar that sold throughout town, designed wristbands, and hosted fundraisers that have raised thousands of dollars. They've carried his memory through the halls with them for the past two years, and this week they willingly carry his memory through graduation festivities. A longtime fan of Joshua's, John Flaschner of the PGA Tour orchestrated a donation of shirts for the senior class with a quote from Joshua so they can take his memory with them as they move on to their next chapter in life.
We are so moved by the outpouring of the love and kindness from many. I would like to share with you an inspirational piece written by a fellow classmate, I hope this inspires you to pursue your dreams in spite of life's challenges, hold steadfast to your goals and run after them with everything you've got. I know that's what Joshua would have done, and that's what he would want you to do.
